Unclaimed money from banks, credit unions and building societies. Your money may have been transferred from one of these institutions to the commonwealth government if your account. Asic's moneysmart website has a handy unclaimed money search that allows individuals to check if they have a claim to any lost money and then provides details on how to make a claim. In accordance with section 8(2)(g) of the freedom of information act 1982 (cth), asic publishes full reports of unclaimed money records we hold. These reports are made available for the use.
